The Mysterious Black Panther

The legend of big black cats has been one of Victoria’s most enduring mysteries, with hundreds of sightings reported to authorities over at least 60 years. Never officially confirmed, mystery surrounds these magnificent creatures and their origins - where did they come from?

Some believe they were offspring of black panthers brought out as mascots by US soldiers during World War II and released into the bush. Another theory is that about 30 years ago, a Monbulk man owned a miniature zoo and released his animals into the bush when the zoo was closed. Many discount the big cat theory and suggest that the sightings could be feral cats or black wallabies.

But you never know... whilst visiting Cloud 9 Farm keep your eyes peeled - perhaps you might catch a glimpse of this elusive creature....
